I have been using a Pur Noisetier necklace on my own baby since he was four months old and I feel that his teething experience has been greatly improved because of it. He wears it day and night, including during baths, and I am confident in the safety of these necklaces. My six year old boy chose his own necklace and is very proud to wear it!

These necklaces are fine to wear in the bath or shower, but it is best removed for swims in the pool due to the chemicals in the water that could affect the life span and efficiency of the necklace. Depending on the acidity of the body, a necklace will last anywhere from 6 months to a year. You will notice the outside of the Hazelwood beads getting darker as they absorb acidity.

Please measure you child’s neck to ensure proper size, but generally sizing is as follows:

11 inches: 0-2 years
13 inches: 2-4 years
14 inches: 4-10 years

The necklace should not be long enough for your baby to bring the necklace to his/her mouth and you should be able to slip two fingers between the necklace and your baby’s neck.

Safety:

The strings used for the necklaces are a metal thread covered in nylon. This was carefully selected for the following reasons:

Maximum resistance to abrasion
More resistance against nicks, cuts and scrapes
Longer lasting
Minimum water absorption
Suppleness

Special clasps are used as fasteners for the 11 and 13 inch models with your child’s safety in mind:

This clasp was put through several tests and is the safest for babies and children
In the event the necklace gets caught or is under too much tension, the clasp will open on either of its ends without breaking the string of beads
Because the beads are threaded and knotted at both ends, the beads will not fall out because the metal covered nylon thread will resist breakage
The necklace is knotted at both ends before being attached to the clasp. If the clasp was to open, no small pieces would be accessible to children to swallow.

Please beware of imitations! Any Hazelwood children’s necklaces that do not have this type of clasp could be dangerous. Pur Noisetier Inc. has your child’s safety at heart.

Handy Tip: If you are uncomfortable with your child wearing the necklace about his or her neck during sleep, wrap the necklace around your child’s ankle so as to keep receiving the benefit of the Hazelwood at night.
